Beads on Cloth

Has anyone ever seen womans cloth with beadwork done on it? I have never seen one and I have been asked to make a beaded cloth dress for someone...seems odd to me, would it be odd for them to wear it at a pow wow...she said she wanted the whole top (yoke) beaded....any suggestions?

sounds like a nothern dancer to me

look at the buckskins better examples if she is wanting a yoke completely beaded

I have a beaded skirt, and plan to make one for my daughter -- but no beaded tops. We dance southern cloth. If she wants a beaded top - maybe she talking about a little beadwork (like on the sleeves or hem). But to me a beaded yoke is a northern thing.

So you think if I told her to maybe think about just doing a small strip (maybe 2 inches) down each sleeve that would be good...or just tell her that I can't do beadwork on it?

I would just tell her that it was a northern style and should not be done on a southern style cloth dress. But that's just me.....

Yeah I'm Northern and that is one of our styles, I saw a beautiful beaded floral cloth dress this past weekend. The top wasn't fully beaded, but it had floral designs all over the top. :)
