American Indian History Month Festival - Dothan, AL Bookmark and Share

Please allow me this opportunity to express a heart felt thank you & the wish for many blessing to everyone for making American Indian History Month Festival 2009 the truly amazing event that it was.

To our Head Man Richard Greybull (Dakota), Head Lady Ellen Rasco (Echota Cherokee), Head Gourd Dancer Wilson Spottedbird (Kiowa Nation, Black Leggings Society), MC Harold "Doc" Comby (Mississippi Band of Choctaw), our Arena Director Jeff Whaley (Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama), Host Northern Drum Medicine Tail (Poarch Creek), Host Southern Drum White Horse Singers (Echota Cherokee), and our Guest Drum Midnite Riders (Alabama Coushatta). . . . I couldn't have done it without you.

To Ms. Marcia Johnston of Buffalo Woman Flute Music, Speedy & Saundra Harley from Muscogee Creek Nation Oklahoma who Stomp Danced your hearts out, Ms. Indian Alabama Paige Dobson from the United Cherokee Ani-Yun-Wiya Nation, the Dothan Police Department and the Dothan Civic Center Staff. . . . Nobody adds the finishing touches like all of you.

To all the dancers who traveled so far to participate, to our exhibitors & our tribal Chiefs who so graciouly gave your time and to our local community who came out to support us . . . . You guys are exceptional.

For every powwow announcement, copied flyer, email forward, web site listing, tapped friend and reposted bulletin . . . . Great job! You did it.

And last but certainaly not least, congrats to all our contest winners 1st place Women's Cloth Audrey Lemley (Cherokee Tribe of North East Alabama), 1st place Men's Grass John Thompson (Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians), 1st place Men's Northern Traditional Alex Alvarez (Poarch Band of Creek Indians) and 1st place Women's Fancy Michelle Reed (Ojibwa) . . . . Keep dancing hard.

Thanks again everybody. . . . We'll see you in 2010!
