I'm new, so if this has come up before I'm sorry to bring up a repeat. I've been involved in a couple of debates this month over whether or not someone dressed up like some cliche movie Indian is somehow worse than them dressed up like a ninja or a dead person. I've never been bothered by what people wear on a day when zombies and mummies and undead Michael Jacksons roam my neighborhood. But I'm not the only person in the world so I'd like any thoughts on the subject. Anyone think they're something to be mad about?

I guess that if someone dresses up like a stereotypical Indian from old movies, it's sort of racially insensitive. Sort of like a person dressing in black-face or something.

I don't think it's such a big deal at Halloween, but that's the ONLY day.

Some of my favorite costumes when I was growing up was as a stereotypical "Gypsy" or "China Girl" or "Hawaiian Dancer", and I didn't mean any offence to those cultures.
