Learning to drive ?

My Mama was telling me about when her Daddy taught her to drive an we got to thinking an realised noone ever realy taught me to drive.
We both remembered her handing me the keys when I was 12 so i could go to the store for her or she would just let me go out riding around an pick up my friends.
Anyways she had a big old 4 door Plymouth Satellite (the car was named Jezebell lol) an okay I remember taking out a couple of fence post when I first started driving but after that I think I did pretty good.

So anyways was just wondering about other peoples learning to drive ?

We had a racetrack nearby, growing up in chicago area, it was about a 30 minute drive from where we lived!! Every saturday night during intermission they would have spectator drags... my brother and I would "borrow" my Dad's car and enter the spectator drags. He never did find out, or I wouldn't be here right now!! We watched one night as a kid hit the wall with a Caddy and proceeded to scrape the paint and moldings off the car!! Never did see that kid again...

morning yall,

i learned at 20 years my first car was a la bomba 52'somthing ..
i rember a friend teaching me after work, it was real late the roads were clear and i was scared driving over the old brige,
The mist was rising high ,the brige of my childhood,i never learned how to drive that car too good. i gave it up and got a 68 couger i drove that one as fast as it could go,once i was showing off on a long strech of road [now 183 ,paved on shoulders] and hit 110 and a baby blue cadie pulled out on to the road a way down the road from me i hit the brakes and ended up pointing in the other driction [a 360] in the gravel, that was the last time i hit 110 in any car...
also
my mom learned at 32 and she took us kids with her lol

My dad let me try driving his Renault 10 around the yard , when I was a kid, I didn't really get to learn officailly until I was 15. My parents worked as cottage parents at a childrens home when I was a teen and daddy had to teach and take 9 of us to get our drivers licenses in a year and a half. Looking at the old photo albums you can see daddys hair turn from solid black to solid white during that year and a half.
Oh and we had to learn in either vans or a station wagon.
