AUTHENTIC INDIAN HEADDRESS AGE UNKNOWN?? - eBay (item 360017917773 end time Feb-01-08 10:48:44 PST)

Look like golden eagle wing feathers from an eagle staff to me. The seller even added a picture to show them being used that way after originally thinking they were a headdress. I'm attempting to report them, but my email keeps getting kicked back

I emailed the seller that it may not be a good idea to be selling Eagle Feathers

I was also able to report it to Ebay my email went thru

obviously the seller has NO idea what they are in possesion of. It is very sad that they were even able to have it to begin with. Sacred items are just that, there's a responsibility that goes along with having them entrusted in your care... someone dropped the ball.

Those most definately are real Golden Eagle feathers. I hope Ebay does notice, and removes the auction. IF not, well then I sure as heck would want to be in that sellers shoes

I received a reply from the Seller they pulled the listing
And thanked me for telling them it was illegal to sell...

It looks like the seller pulled the auction. Perhaps Josiah's email did the trick. When I originally saw the auction Sunday night i was tired and thought surely those aren't real. So I marked the watch it and looked at them closer last night when i wasn't so tired. From what I remember of the ad from Sunday I don't think they knew what they were, but after reading the changes to the ad last night and seeing the additional picture. They knew what they were when they changed the ad.
Regardless, I'm just happy to see they aren't going to be sold.

I also received an email from the seller saying thank you for the email I sent and that they pulled the item from the auction. I hope they find a proper home for the staff.

I looked really close at them feathers and they are definitely Golden Eagle and even more they have not been taken care of very well at all
Kinda sad to see them in that state, with someone that has no Idea how to take care of them properly...

I was thinking the exact same thing. I wonder how they came arcoss them in the first place? I Guess that is a mystery we wont ever find out. But I do hope the feathers find their way home.

Probably a novice question, but who decides what happens with feathers that show up like these did, likely in non-NDN possession and without the proper permits? Would they be turned over to the US Fish and Wildlife Department?
