Halibut fishing in Homer- DOH!

I just thought I'd share a few photos with ya'll from this weekend... My friend won a fishing trip on a charter boat to fish for Halibut and she invited me to go with her! It was an awesome weekend and I'd never been to Homer before... and even though it was a cloudy weekend with a little rain, the sun did come out and and the view everywhere was still gorgeous. And I got to see the Time Bandit from Deadliest catch!!! That's my favorite boat in that show! So enjoy!!

I've always wanted to go deep-sea fishing - my dad used to go in San Diego when I was a kid. Maybe someday...

Like you, it's been at least 2 years without a vacation and probably will only get to do day trips this year, too.

Deadliest catch is too scary for me! I read an article about Alaskan King crab fishing in Readers' Digest - traumatizing what they go through on those boats.

well Halibut don't fight... at least not till you get their heads out of the water... but pulling even ten pounds up from the depth of 250 feet is a chore LOL! My arms hurt bad the next day...

Are'nt the views just awesome SE?? This state is so surreal.. even when you are seeing the landscape in person sometimes you have to wonder if what you are seeing is real because it's so beautiful! The worst photographer can take the most beautiful landscape photos here with ease!

Those guys on deadliest catch are amazing.. I know I could'nt do 24+ straight hours of manual labor like that. Being on a boat would be awesome, but I don't know if I would love it as much being on it for a month at a time either and in such rough waters in those temps!... they definitley are made of some tough stuff, that's for sure. I have alot of respect for them after seeing this show because I certainly love my crab legs!
