Loosing the tummy

Does anyone have any ideas on how to loose weight - I have always had the hardest time - many Native people have skinny legs and round tummys -

There are many diets out there. Not all are good, and a few do work. First of all, you have to look at the type of lifestyle you life. If its full of suger and sitting around, nothing will work. If your dead set on loosing weight, cut all food portions in half (get rid of all soda, candy, any kind of factory sugar) and get moving. Walking in the evening, running 1 - 2 miles, or boot camp excersises (trust me it works).

I've been pregnant twice, and there is always a lil' bit of fat that sticks. Try as you must, but is will stay.

I hope I've helped a little. If you need more help, e-mail me and I'll try the best I can.

You can do it !! If can anyone can!!

Okay, I weighed in over 200 lbs at one time...yikes, i can say it now because it will show the progress i have made. LOL Or else i never would have said it... I have lost 57 pounds since then, about 6 months ago...but I had started last summer by cutting down portions sizes, no pop, and no bread. I didn't know how to start, i just started on my own. Then i went to a trainer, who is now my very best friend in the whole world, and he started me on a calorie count(its not as bad as it sounds or others have made it to be. LOL) and being accountable for portion sizes and how much I ate in one day. Lots of fluids, especially water, as water flushes out the lactic acids(or something like that, haha) that hold onto fat around your muscles. I started walking about 10 minutes a day, elliptical about 5 minutes...i worked up to 2.5 miles on the treadmill and 1.5 miles on the elliptical. Then I hit a severe plateau here about 3 weeks ago. So, he started me lifting since i had lost the majority of the weight and am only 12 pounds from my goal weight. I still do a mile on each cardio machine, but I lift now to build up muscle, which burns more fat, and to tone up. I am 41 years old, get real...its not going to tone that much....plus i had 4 babies, one by c-section...but it is working.
Change is scary...any change, but pray about it, put your trust in the Lord and in your own ability to make a decision and stick to it. Nothing feels better than getting on the scale or putting on a new size of clothing, and knowing that you did it on your own by your own strength. Start slow, dont' set major goals....set small ones that will make you feel confident in yourself, and don't get discouraged when you fall short, its okay...you are going to do that alot, but just pick yourself up and keep going, each day is an opportunity to be successful in your health and your life decisions....you can do it, just take it slow..I am living proof..i was huge. LOL LOL LOL Now i can wear 10, but it kind of growls at me, but a 12 fits nicely and i was size 20-22. I can shop and buy clothes that are normal sized and if you have been overweight the majority of your life, that is a dream come true. So, take it one step at a time, cut down, get moving, be accountable. Sandy

I just started trying to lose some of my baby weight (baby is now 1-year-old) and am focusing mostly on exercise, using the treadmill we bought with some of our tax return $. I was thinking it would be nice if we had a thread for folks like us who are trying to lose weight, get into better shape, where we could kind of be our own support group and encourage each other. What do you all think?

That's a great idea! I have lost most of the baby weight from my daughter, but now I am thinking about getting preggo again. It'd be nice to have somewhere to keep accountable for healthy lifestyles and somewhere to go if I do have a second one to get rid of the weight again. It would be nice to do this.....all for it!

That is awesome! I weighed about 200 pounds alittle more than 2 years ago, myself. My progress has been slow and most of my success can go back to how I changed eating habits. Just cut back but don't deprive yourself either. I have "treats" on occasion. I also took up rollerblading since I hate jogging so much. I also take pilates once a week and then some crunches and a little bit of arm work (to tone.) In a few weeks I'll be up to rollerblading about 12-15 miles a week. Then I hike/rock climb whenever I get a chance. For that I have to get up early but it's worth it because it's also a mental exercise and stress reliever, too.
