Yeah that song is typical of older then dirt stereotypes about NDNs. But it's got a good beat and Tim's hot!

(I like him better since he married Faith Hill and showed how much of a jerk he's not.)

So do I find the song offensive - somewhat. But do I think radio'll quit playing it - no!

**************

"He signed with Curb Records in 1990, but it wasn't until 1992 that he had his first minor hit "Welcome to the Club" off his self-titled debut album, which failed to make much of a dent on the charts. He achieved a couple of minor hits including, "Memory Lane" and "Two Steppin Mind", off the same album in 1993.

The second album, Not a Moment Too Soon, went on to become the best selling country album in 1994. The first single, "Indian Outlaw", written by John D. Loudermilk, caused considerable controversy as critics argued that it presented Native Americans in a patronizing way. Some radio stations refused to play it, but among some Indian tribes, the song was popular; it went to the top of the playlist at the clear channel KTNN, the radio voice of the Navajo Nation. The controversy helped spur sales and the song became McGraw's first top ten country single; as well as reaching the top 20 on the pop charts."

Well, my opinion is: If any one cares... I hate it. Why can't he sang about being WHITE? Just my opinion, no offense meant.

I LOVE that song. I don't care if it's kinda corny. It reminds me of back in the day when it was just good to have ANYTHING out about Indians.

Tim was so hot in that video. And of course, it got him started on the pathway to being a millionaire and marrying the finest woman in country music.

I kinda lost respect for him after seeing Friday Night Lights and seeing he had a hairy chest and was bald.

But most of his music still rocks. Might as well call him an artist, cuz some of his stuff is OUT THERE!!

I remember seeing the People article long ago and his mom and grandma looked kinda native. But after seeing more stuff in the last few years, I don't think so.

I'll still jam Indian Outlaw on any jukebox I see, just to tee everyone off. jks

His mom's Italian. I read something about him getting some kind of award from some italian american association or something. He played a pretty good racist hick sheriff in Black Cloud.
