tick repellant

does anyone know of a tick repellant that isn't some deet spray on that actually works? having a hard time with ticks up here. pulled 8 off of my dog and myself so far today. wouldn't want to spray him (or me) with deet b/c he'll ingest it. any thoughts?

deet?

Not sure what deet is, but seven dust works. Or garlic. Or cedar. I've also heard Avon's Skin So Soft repels (fleas)? We use Front Line on our critters, but it costs a small fortune and only lasts one month as opposed to what the package says (three months).

Every once in a blue moon we get fleas in the house. I put seven dust on the carpets and let it settle in for a couple of hours before vaccuming. Course, with EIGHT critters, maybe I just have too many, ya think? lol

Good luck!

i guess i'm not sure what 7 dust is. could you please describe it? deet is a chemical that they use in OFF sprays (and others i'm sure) that you're not supposed to ingest or even get on skin. hard to do when you're going into the woods on a warm day! =)

8 critters huh? i thought we were getting bad by getting our 6th next month. =) what kindof critters do you have? i'm learning there's really no such thing as too many.

Didn't catch where you are from but 7 dust is actually 'Sevin' dust. Garden supply stores or old country farm stores is where you can find it. (Check the concentration, i.e. 5%, etc.) Grab your dog and a handful of Sevin dust, put it all over your animal. If you're doing it right, there should be a cloud of dust around you!lol

You can also broadcast it around the foundation of your house. If you go into the woods, put your socks on the OUTSIDE of your pants and liberally apply Sevin dust from the thighs down to the outside of your clothes. works great for seed ticks.

I just hope you don't live in the city!!!
