my grandmother told me that about 3 months ago, she went with my aunt and four cousins to a longhouse where there were spookie, dressed natives dancing and drumming. It seemed as though they were congering up spirits or something. She said it wes very very loud in there, almost unbearable, and no one was allowed to record this event or photograph it in any way. the spectators were told not to touch the dancers and not to let them come near you. because if you were touched , you would "crack up" as they called it. well
my cousin was touched by a dancer and he "cracked up". he stared straight forward and was making wierd abrupt sounds. it was like he was in a trance. he didn't respond to anything you did. he was taken to a womans house, a tribe elder, to be "worked on".I guess to try to get him to snap out of it. well he snapped out of it. my aunt freaked out, she didnt know what was happening to her 16 year old son. well this happened twice, then he was told not to go into the longhouse for atleast one year, unless he wanted to become a dancer, which he would have to be sepparated from his life, and family for 6 months, to do so. I don't know what this dathering was called or what it was for, or if it was all real or not. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME SOLVE THIS MYSTERY??? "You unlock this door to the longhouse with the key of imagination, beyond it is another dimension. A dimension of sound with loud music, a dimension of sight with wierd NDNs, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into . . . The Twilight Zone." Do do do do.....Do do do do

You need to go ask your grandma or elders.. this is'nt something that should be discussed here.

UM.....
If you dont live the "traditional" ways.. as in native relgions and there are many differnt as many as there are tribes. you need to speak to an elder from the area that this event took place. Speaking of such things in public is a no-no. depending upon which tribe this happened at it could cause other problems, depends on which you believe. <--- runs away fast from this post... |

I totally agree with everyone here...
Such sacred things should NOT be spoken of in such a public place as this.... youre asking for trouble when ya do. Take the advice given to you and go through correct protocol to find your answers. I also wondered the same as MOTS... Hmmmmmm |

Indiangirlatheart - I am not of the nations that you spoke of.
I can only surmise that(1)you are not native, (2) you were somewhere that you shouldn't be If # 1 is correct, I would say, you're cousin shouldn't go back, and you shouldn't go. If you are native and of the nation that the ceremony conducted, do not go unless you have been properly instructioned and abide to all instructions. If you are native but not of the nation of that particular ceremony, ensure that you speak with the elders of that nation and of your own before making any further decisions. That's all I have to say. |

I know I probably shouldn't have came here to find my answers, but I don't know were else to go.I don't know any elders. I am native by blood, and at heat, It's just that I haven't been raised native.I don't know all the rules yet.and some of this stuff is freak'n me out. like with my cousin, I think my aunt is going a little to far in trying to push her, and her children into the native community so fast . She has no idea what she could be messing with, what she could be exposing her kids to.she's crazy, why couldn't she just take them to a powwow or somehting. And I can't do anything to help them, and these scared kids, 16,14,12, and 9 years old, they don't know what is going on! and at this longhouse,I think it was in mission, or abbotsford,b.c. canada. they let anyon |
