Help with DVD

Hey need help selecting a good DVD player. Anybody got any good ideas which are the best. There are so many different brands to select from. Willing to pay around $150.00-$200.00 range. Can anybody tell which names or brands to stay away from. Would like to buy by this upcoming weekend. Suggestions please.

A lot of manufacturers have a good product. The only recommendation I can make is get a surround sound. You'll get a lot more enjoyment from your movies.

Hey Bad...I have a JVC Home Theater receicer and those small Bose speakers in my bedroom. My neighbor says she likes the 'Indian music' when i throw a jammin' cd in there and pump up the volume! I know Bose has remanufactured speakers for a good price. Don't know what kind of stores you have in your in your area. I'm a Best Buy guy!

At Best Buy we were looking for a name brand DVD player. Finally we asked for a suggestion and we ended up buying a Mintek - whatever kind of brand that is. But it turned out great - cheap and it's been going strong for 3 years now.

If you have that much to spend, I suggest getting a disk changer so you don't have to change your disks all the time. Or spend a little more and get a DVD burner. That's what I'm holding out for now.

I stay away from Apex, had three here and two crapped out within a year.

Oh yeah, WyoRose, I bought my DVD burner off of newegg.com a couple of months ago. It only cost $60 plus $5 for shipping. If you don't have one already, get yourself a decryption program so you can make illegal boot legs. I highly suggest a freeware caled dvd decrypter available at dvddecrypter.com. Next you sign up for one of those flat fee unlimited rental services like Blockbuster or Netflix and ouila! you're ready to pedal those movies out of your garage.

hey great advice!!!! now i dont have to go to my other idea for mo money on the side - a marijuana grow operation!!

as for buying a new dvd player it depends exactly how you want to watch your movies. if you have an old rez tv and no surround sound system and don't really want that whole movie theatre feel - go for a cheapo dvd player (got one in my bedroom) but i got a dvd/vcr combo with all the bells and whistles in the living room with the surround sound system and the big azz tv. saving my pennies for a flat screen and a louder system. going cheapo in this scenerio wouldn't give you the movie theatre feel you would want...

Cool! I might have to sign up for Netflix again. I don't really want to sell them, but having a backup copy (especially for all these Disney DVD that my grandson seems to wear out) would be great.

I subscribe to Netflix. If works out great for me because I live way out in the boontoolies and the nearest rental place is 40 minutes away so it sux returning them and the turn around time for Netflix here is only 2 days.

BTW all you do-gooders out there, I don't copy these movies for sale!!!!!!!

I saved and got a 5 disc RCA changer (yep, i'm lazayyyyyyy haha j/k ...) I've had it for about four years and it's still going strong. You might want to get a dvd player that recognizes dvd-r discs.... just in case ya know? I just bought the entire collection of Ruroni Kenchin and some of the discs won't play.... (thank god for the ps-2).

I'm bad about this...Checked out reviews at PriceGrabber.com. Had some good reviews on the Sony DVP-NS775(V). Also went to BestBuy.com. Dude, for 150-200 bucks, you're gonna get a good piece of equipment! Prices are going down because most DVDs are digital and HDTV is coming in. Sorry, I get all technical and ****!

Nah dude! Keep talkin! Never been to pricegrabber. My next investment is going to be an external dvd burner... unless I can find a really good price on a computer with all the specs I want. Anyways, I love learnin' new ways to save some dough!

I agree, Apex is not worth anything. I now have a Sanyo- works just fine
