A local newspaper science writer was explainin' how grocers are seeing a comeback in traditional turkeys like the American Bronze, Bourbon Red and Narragansett--the Narragansett Turkey being that purty guy you see in most Thanksgiving pictures. For many years now, the turkeys we've bought from the grocer have been the White Broad Breasted turkey, bred scientifically to yield more white BREAST meat because that's what most consumers want. The American Bronze, Bourbon Red and Narragansett turkeys all have alot more dark meat because they haven't been mass produced, and are allowed to fly--Whites can't fly they weigh too much--but despite their darker meat grocers are now getting more and more requests to get back to our Native--not NDN but 'indigenous' turkey--but have trouble filling orders because besides flying, these fine 'indigenous' birds are also allowed to MATE NATURALLY!! Yeah, they get it on only during mating season! White Broad Breasted turkeys CAN'T MATE NATURALLY, so the article states, because THEIR BREASTS ARE TOO BIG! So, they are artificially inseminated. This obviously allows ranchers to control the population and meet demand, too, but GOL DARN IT!!! do you want to eat a turkey pumped up with God knows what? Okay, so you ask...where does Anna Nicole Smith fit in? Well, I figure maybe she had that breast reduction surgery 'cause her BREASTS got too large and she was having trouble MATING

Have u seen her new commercial about losing her weight with this new pill?.. yeah right, like I'm suppose to believe that and run out and buy some..Thats an interesting story.. I had no idea, well really I never thought about it.. I've always bought ButterBall or Honeysuckle cuz I likes to eat white meat!. lol.. Have u ever had fried wild turkey? Alot of peeps I know talks about how good it is but Ive never had the opportunity to try it..

Yes, LW, if you deep fry it in peanut oil, it is absolutely EXCELLENT! but the damned things are VERY hard to hunt...and around here, its' illegal to sell them (wild turkeys)...so I only get to have this treat now and then...but if you get a chance, try it! It's great...and they don't contain any steroids for growth enhancements!
As far as Anna N Smith... she probably got surgery with all the $$$ she got from her late 'husband'!

Washakie Witch, thanks for not asking! though I usually rely on my good looks and charm, wit, and natural ability, as well as my modesty! (yeah, right, C!) Then again, just like hunting, I have been known to come home empty handed!

WW, I didn't know that (like so many other things!) and haven't ever watched that channel, but will now. Do you remember the cost? and if it was fried in peanut oil?

Well I duuno.. but Anna has really lost it, like I mean she has never really been all there but NOW she has just totally gone off the deep end. There was an Interview with her after the American Music Awards where she made a total azz out of herself and holy smokes, she was higher than a kite, she denies it but you could totally tell, her eyes were glossy her voice was slurred it was sad. She spoke of her addiction to pain medication and anitdepressants and even admitted that he hasnt exercised since taking Trim Spa, like commonthose that have brains knowthat it takes exercise as well as a good diet, and if she is soley relying on pills give her a year and the pounds will come back in double.

Well, I won't be looking for her at the next MENSA society meetings! How in the hell did she get famous? Just by 'marrying' that rich older guy? the little I've heard her (prior to channel switching) she sounds like an absolute imbecile!

I just checked the QVC.com website under kitchen/food and they have all sorts of fried turkey options. There is even a special of two lb. breasts for an introductory price of about $37. Darn! That's about the size of Anna's before reduction surgery, dontcha think?

Now I'm hungry....
