I was watching the news last night and they did a story about security screeners at airports having sticky fingers. This lady took her engagement ring off to go through the medal detector and that quick a screener stole it. When they search your checked in baggage before it gets loaded on the plane things come up missing too. :NoNo
I was stuck in Phoniex back in 2000 at the airport. I was tryin to get home from ASU powwow and I bought some cool applique designs and when I finally got home and picked my bag up at baggage claim, checked my bag and here my designs were gone. I could understand if it's jewerly or something... :36: Denver is 25th out of the worst screener thiefts and LA, NY and Seattle are among the Top 10... They are soooo worried about terrorist! Sorry to hear it. I don't like thievery either. Liars either. As far as airplanes go, it'll prolly be a cold day before I ever get on one of those again. Last time I flew, they treated ME like a thief. I was pulled out of line, searched and metal searched (even the bottom of my feet!). That did it. No mas! hmmm, maybe I looked middle eastern to them.

I travel with work. And I enjoy wearing jewelry. First. The jewelry I am not wearing I keep in a small pouch and carry it in my handbag, which while the handbag goes in a plastic tray through the xray machine is never out of my sight. Second, I NEVER take my jewelry off. They can see it, they can wand it--you shouldn't have to take it off. One of our employees has a pierced tongue. Other than that she looks like you and me. Both coming and going recently, she was pulled aside and given a complete pat down, under the breasts, between the legs, etc. They didn't even take her into a private area it was just off to the side. She was totally humiliated. I raised a stink and was told that they just 'follow orders.' They have a criteria. If a subject fits the criteria they HAVE to do that complete search. On the way back there was another subject put through an outlandish search. A two year old girl. She was separated from her mother, her stuffed dog taken away from her and patted down, her diaper opened. To hell with bureaucratic procedure. I wonder what kind of memories that screaming child will have of that experience? Why was she searched? Because she was Latino and her 'mother' wasn't. Apparently it fit somebody's 'drug trafficking' profile. Being an AOD counselor I am intolerant of drug trafficking, but I'm also intolerant of child abuse. I think these TSA folks are given way too much latitude and there isn't enough supervision!

I just find it ironic that even with all the searching going on in airports that there are still people gettin thru security, i think its just all a smoke screen to make the public believe that they are safer but i dont think they are. Hell a 14 year old kid got on an airplane with the exact tools used in the Sept. 11 highjackings, he did it as a school project, of course he got busted but he sure as hell proved a point, and that is that nothing has changed it just appears that it has and all it ends up doing is making travellers more frustrated and angry with the airlines. They better be careful they gonna start increasing the number of disgruntled passengers and then who knows what will happen. Terroist can pop up anywhere and they have proven that, more needs to be done and the lies have to stop because the american people are not stupid.
Just my 2 cents on the issue. As for liars and thieves they all get caught eventually its just amazing that they would have the nerve to do it right in front of thier victims and then we are suppose to trust these people??? The world has truly become chaotic and has created divisions amongst nations and people, how sad. |

Man, I thought it was bad when the airline stole $100 from me for flying out of Pittsburgh early.:p
But yeah, in Denver I had to get the "thorough" security screening. VERY humiliating, especially when done by this 'butch' security woman. Thank GOD she was paged on emergency and had to leave before she got below the waist. |

:rofl2: Rose u crack me up!
just to play devils advocate - i think theyre so overly zealous about the search thing 'cuz it's so hard to figure out what every possible "weapon" could be used... especially in the hands of a terrorist - think about it... technically a normal can of hairspray and a zippo lighter could become a flame thrower. scary! |
