Powwow Points and the Powwow Store

Recently I've noticed that as the number of powwow points you accrue increases, so does the price of the things in the powwow store. What's up with that? What's the point of getting more powwow points if the price of things is gonna remain low as long as you dont have many points and increase when you get lots of points? Its kinda like income tax brackets... only there seems to be no maximum tax bracket.
