how not to approach a Native American

Approaching a native American is fairly simple, just say hello, although the concept seems basic, what I encounter at work and in other places are just the opposite, some of the more popular one's are " Hey Chief " "Are you Cherokee?" "Where are your feathers", "Whats your Indian name" these are just a few ways not to approach a Native American, please post your comments and visit Apachetrends.com and post to my forums.

I went to a rodeo over the 4th of JULY weekend. As I got out of my car there were a few good ol' boys lounging against their 'pick'em up truck'. One of them opened his mouth to say something about me being a 'squaw'. Well, I've been taught that was an offensive term for women's anatomy so I turned to him and asked if it was his practice to call White women "c***s"? Then I walked away... I just had NO patience with that kinda crap.... I suppose I shouldn't have reacted, but I did...

I was approched the other week by someone, and they called me a wagon-burner.
I simply replied," yeah, I burned your mamma's wagon last night, and from the way she cried out, I knew she liked it!". after that all the people around started laughing except for the one who made the comment...he got pissed.

Ive had someone I know "jokingly" call me red nigger, like it was some hilarious joke I was suppose to laugh at.

When I was a little girl I had another little girl over to play. She wouldnt pick up toys with me when we were done so I stood in front of my bedroom door ( suppose I was a little bossy? LOL). She started screaming " DONT SCALP ME! DONT SCALP ME!" and she was serious.
