you peeps just dont get it do you? )and you most likely dont' get it because you are not ndn. ) This "tradition" of the OJIBWAY (woodland tribes) is exactly that. It was an original instruction given to us by the Creator. So, how can that be WRONG???? Dang!

I am not talking about other western and southwestern tribes where I understand they do allow the females to sit at the drum and sing like the men. I am speaking of only my woodlanc ojibway tribe. Our ways from the beginning of time. I said in an earlier post that I can respect those tribes who do allow that. That is fine. But you gotta understand not ALL tribes have that tradition.

The ladies up here in the Northeast sing with hand drums.

It is our tradition to sing with hand drums and rattles.

But....If I am singing on a larger drum and the ladies want to join, they are gonna be standin and singin along with their rattles.

I'M SIMPLY STATING IT IS AN "OPINON" THAT WOMEN SHOULD DRUM AS WELL. I DO UNDERSTAND IF THAT IS WHAT YOUR TRIBE DOES AS "TRADITION" THEN GREAT SO BE IT. THAT DOESN'T MEAN ALL TRIBES ARE THE SAME WAY. (YES I DO HAPPEN TO BE NDN BY THE WAY, NOT THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO POINT THAT OUT)

It is time to tell these fools that the world does not revolve around them. Wake up and smell the coffee. You gals are here and I for one am proud that you are finally giving somthing back! Do not feel oppresed by their attitude, they are the blind ones, they are living in a dark room without light and there is only one blessing, they do have the right to change if they want to!

But then again they have the right to remain silent and stupid tooooo!

You done went too far Tibiki. How many times do we have to tell your azz? OUR TRADITIONS ARE OUR TRADITIONS, I FOR ONE, AM NOT GOING TO QUESTION THE CREATOR!

You are Anglo. You do not have a drop of red blood in you. I am Indian, my veins are busting at the seams with Red blood. I know what my role is in drumming. I know that physiologically, I am very powerful during certain times of the month. I know that due to my increased/fluctuating energies, I can upset the rhythm of the drum.

WHY IS THAT SO GODDAMNED DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND?!?!:Yell

I hope not. Because if you are you are also referring to my elders as such as, that is where I was taught from. Including my family. Parents, grparents and so forth and so on.

Respect is one of those seven teachings and in your post that one teaching is lacking big time.
