Glad to see I'm not the only one way behind on my regalia. I made my first set of leggings and aprons out of split cow hide around Christmas. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way, after having the hide tear on the front apron and one of the leggings I decided to quit being cheap and buy some buckskin. Now I have to redo them. They won't be beaded as planned but at least they will look alot better than the ones I have now. I still have to make me a belt after I finish my wife's (I only have 6 1/2" done so far:( and another 24 to bead
)Then it'll be time to start on the rest of my outfit!!!!! Is it just me or does the first set always take the longest to build??????

I am working on two ribbon shirts, a breech cloth for men's traditional outfit, dress and shawl for a teen fancy dancer, plus trying to squeeze in another shawl and dress for my daughter, all by Denver March powwow, where did all the time go?

I'm working on frogs, and horses. Frogs mostly, as beaded bags and magnifying glass holders...and lady bugs too as pendant watches on necklaces. Then the serious work of a couple of hairdrops in diagonal weave. One is almost finished and then I get to start the next one. Always working on things that I shouldn't be just because they are new ideas. Maybe I'll have something to wear at Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque.....but not if I don't get off line.:D

After finishing my spring beadwork classes I now have time to get back to my dauthers beaded northern fancy shawl set. The front cape is done and I am starting the back cape. It is all beaded in 13 0 cuts in rose and butterfly patterns. It looks like it will be a good set.

The usual fun stuff and a new project that I'm still designing before I start beading. My grandfather gave me his jacket that he had made out of three of his deer hides. So, I will start that when I move into our new place as I will need more room then what I have now, along with an outfit for powwowing. Otherwise it's necklaces, earrings, purses, belts and bracelets. Finished that wolf design and now need to put it on leather. woohoo!

at the moment i'm thinking about the long list of projects that i need to do. i'm a little overwhelmed with it all. a beaded vest is the first thing on the list, and hopefully i'll get started on that in the next week or so. that should keep me busy for a while.

Right now, my obsession is finishing my leggings. Its the only thing left in my set. So far I have done the choker/medallion, hairties, big barrette for plumes, 2 side barrettes, 1 barrette with side plumes, 2 rings, earrings and mocassins, so its the leggings that are the absolute finish to this set (unless I decide to do a purse along with the set). And then I have my niece's new sequins fancy dance set to do. 2 dresses for myself for the new season, re-sizing my jingle dress from last year, because its hanging on me now (lost a bit of weight over the last few months), and 1 new fancy shawl set for my niece as well as a new jingle dress for her, and all of her accessories before the season is in full swing.
All of that work crammed into the next two months, amongst my term papers, finals, and graduation celebration. Yep, what is a busy girl to do ? Haha. R. |

I just finished a Seminole bandolier for a Florida tribal member - you can see the pics I uploaded to my gallery last night.
I have also just finished some cuffs and am working on matching beaded mocs for a young man's traditional outfit. I'm also working on the crown for this summer's Grand Ronde Veterans Senior Queen, and a beaded vest and matching belt/side drops and mocs for a traditional dancer. After that's finished I have some leggings to bead for an order, and then my husband's plateau-style (Flathead) traditional outfit. Then maybe a new southern cloth beadwork set for myself. So I'm busy for awhile! |

You mean you are not coming to Albuquerquue in April? I know it can get a BIT crowded at Gathering of Nations Powwow. Jerry is taking his Tradidtional Clothing class form IAIA on a field trip to the powwow! We will probably see you at Taos. That's always a nice one. Sally |

Hello Everyone,
After looking at everyones work I noticed I'm not only pretty inexperienced, but time-challenged ! Absolutely cannot bead at a marathon pace Soooo because I'm slightly backwards have been beading using needlepoint kit pictures to do stuff that has more detail to it. Just got done with a wolf tapestry, added a more lenape border around the edges, using quills to make arrow points in the border and ended up with another scene on top. It got snatched by giftee before I could add the third scene at the bottom ,or get it onto backing......and before it turned into a tablecloth:Angel:   Square stitch that got out of hand !!!! LOL Haven't seen anyone using needlepoint kits as a way to get precharted designs.....So I thought it was worth mentioning. |
