I will let someone else discuss the issue of whether you want to spend a lot of time beading Barbie??? What a lot of people do for applique beadwork is to find a good picture of what you want and put the paper into an embroidery hoop over the top of the canvas and bead right over it. Any coloring book would work. Also as the father of three girls they can only wear posts for awhile right after they get their ears pierced.

I concur. A Barbie pic is a bit much for earrings or even side barrettes.
But yeah, for a purse just find any Barbie graphic and go from there. SOME people use an embroidery hoop, but others just tack the paper to whatever you're beading on with basting type stitches. I used a hoop when doing quillwork and I hated the way it shrunk back up when it was taken out of the hoop. It might cause your beads to bunch up after un-hooping too.

I can't draw for diddly either so, I use coloring book pages which you can search for on Google, I also use quilting patterns, embroidery patterns, stained glass patterns etc.
Google is your friend

Ive done a few set's of baretts and instead of doing the doll itself i did the name, meaning I made it with Dora's name and put a lil flower above the d and below the a, then I did a Tinkerbell like it. I had not thought of doing that but its what they askd for came out pretty good.

i have to agree with that everyone has said so far about the coloring book pages. i'm not really good at the applique beading, but i do like to use the "peyote" stitch. and i also use the loom. there is a website that you can print the paper out to color in the squares to get the design that you want. what i do is i loom what i want for the barrette and then i attach it to a piece of leather to the barrette i'll give you the link to print out the paper if you want it.
here's the "peyote" stitch paper http://whisperingwindstradingpost.co...yote_graph.pdf and here's the looming paper http://whisperingwindstradingpost.co...loom_graph.pdf i don't know if you will find this useful or not but it's a suggestion. |
