Question Rounded Words Beaded On Crowns Bookmark and Share

Hello everyone-
I have been struggling all day to figure out how to get the words to look right around a circle in the center of the crown that I want to bead.
Does anyone know how to do this so that everything looks nice and neat? So that all the letters are spaced right?

Thank you!

draw your pattern out on what your beading to, two ways bead to your pattern or bead your letters and main elements and then fill the background

Yes I understand that. The problem is when I try to do the letters, like in this example

my letters come out all crazy, like some are too close together and others are too far apart or some are bigger then others. Especially on the bottom of the circle.

So is there something I am missing? do they use some sort of program to do the lettering and then print it out? I tried this also, I got the top to turn out ok doing it that way, but when I try to flip the bottom to show the words like in the example above they come out all crazy and bigg or not spaced right.

Thanks to anyoen who knows the trick to making this look right.

In terms of getting the spacing right, use the drawing tools in Word. There is a curved word art tool. You can set it up to do a complete circle. This will help get subtle wedging of the font and spacing right.

Lots of printer makers have papers for doing iron-on transfers. I've used these to transfer scanned drawings on to canvas. It does leave a thin vinyl film on the surface so cut it the smallest size. (Think '70-'s era t-shirts.) It will also stiffen the area somewhat.

It's hard for me to get things just right on the computer.

I usually print the letters - a fat font and then bold it - then cut them out and tack them on to the item in whatever position. Then I can adjust them, widen the upper half, or change some a little.

Or I just sketch the letters, cut them out and do the same adjusting.

I think 2-needle works best for detail beading like letters and stuff.

WordArt is a tool in the drawing tool palette for MSWord. On the mac, it looks like a big 3-D "A".

Looks like that in Windows land too. Or just go to Insert, then click on Word Art.

Love WordArt, too!

When I was younger, I used to bead with the felt on top and the paper on the bottom. But as I got older (and wiser, aye!), I've learned to switch the paper on top, so drawing and beading would be alot easier.

I usually have the paper with the design on top, and then either brown paper, or thick bond paper on the back - sandwiching the felt, buckskin, or other substrate that I'm beading on.

If you have a PC running windows you may have MSPaint, which is a drawing program. There are also a pile of commercial and freeware options for PC users. Prices range from nada to $$$. Functionality is similarly variable.

If you're a mac user, there is a range of commercial and freeware options as well, with the same range of prices and functionalities.

The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a popular freeware option that is available for several platforms.

And if you have MSOffice or MSWord, you have access to the drawing tools in Word. Depending on how you copy of Word is configured, you may have to open the right toolbar to see the tool. (Help will direct you through this if needed.)

You can. I personally find MSWord a bit challenging to use as a drawing tool. But I still use it regularly at home. At the office I have a range of tools I use.

No program can make you Picasso. Drawing with a mouse or tablet is just as challenging as drawing with a pencil. What the software can give you is tools to compose images, and the capability to edit and revise ad infinitum. And image retouching and manipulating packages can let you take a photograph and process it into an image suitable for use as a beadwork design.
