Beading Every Day

I have found that the best way to get beadwork done is to do at least some beadwork every day. I missed two days while traveling the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it made me think that I had not missed a day since psxchick turned me on to those cool miyuke beads.

So now I have beaded 10 days in a row. Does anyone here have a really long streak going? How many days in a row for YOU?

Post it if it is more than one.

I get up at 5 am so I can bead for 2-3 hrs before work. My longest continuous stretch was just a few days under a year.

I'm on beading hiatus right now because I've been sewing... but when I'm beading I work on it for anywhere from 2-5 hours a day.

Id have to say my longest beading would have to be this Crown thats due in a week! Im going on 3 months of beading, and I start at 6:00 am. and bead off and on all day and put it totaly down for the day about 10:00 at nite, I still have a lil one at home who needs tending and my house hold chores "thats dreadfully behind!" But I should be done in a week or so, Getting ready for the Holliday's have slowed me a bit but Its going good.

I got a bad case of beader's block. I have some earrings, keychains and other little things that I need to start working on. But all I can do is get the box out, look at the stuff, and put it aside.

Any tips on motivation?

Do you mean be beaders block no designs comming to you? or no drive to bead? I always have things I want to do and things I need to do, what keep's me going on this crown "besides the money part" is keeping my word and the young woman who will be recieving it. I keep thinking plug along on it and it will be done and you can move on to other things, I wont start a new project if the one im doing has a dead line but im just about ready to cut out the backing for it so im pretty happy to be done, the next se t will be several medium to small pieces verses this one and I may feal like Im getting more done. But no worries Wyo you have some mad skills and youll be off and beading in no time!

I bead anywhere from an hour a day to 9 or 10 hours a day. since I take my beading to work, I can get quite a bit done as long as I'm not playing on the computer. When I'm home, I bead for a while, take a cleaning break and do some housework, bead, break and so on. The cleaning breaks do 2 things for me-they keep me from drowning in housework and they give my neck and shoulders a break from beading.
Hey Wyo rose-I do a couple of things to break beader's block. If I'm at work, I get on the computer and look at other sites that show beader's work and that can be a real inspiration. If i'm home, I'll re-organize my bead drawers. somehow, seeing all the beads and colors helps me break that block. Sounds to me like you are working on some Cmas. gifts. Are you pushing yourself to get them done? If I push myself to do a bunch of stuff on a deadline, I get less done. Guess I'm kind of contrary that way.

Is it just me or is 9 or 10 hours a day a lot of beading? Also I am in Jacksonville, Florida. Not that far away. If you are going to bead that much I hope you are using good beads. I also say good for you and whoever is getting all this beadwork. LOL

Some days I do a lot some only a little.

As far as beaders block. I say force yourself to make something. That will get the juices flowing. Just set an appointment to get it going

I'm working on outfitting 3 people for Nationals in August next year. Except when work demands 14+ hour days from me (like I had happen from mid Oct to mid Nov) I bead at least 2 hours every day. Some weekends I have been known to bead from the time I wake up pretty much until I go to bed (with a few breaks during that time) - easily 12 -14 hours.

Beading for me is theraputic - doc said I had to squish this stupid foam ball two hours a day (one hour for each hand) to build up the muscles that support the joints that I have that are falling apart. I showed doc my beading stuff and demonstrated every thing I need to do while beading (I do applique using an embroidery hoop) and got an OK to substitute beading for the foam ball.

*grin* Nothing like having a legitimate excuse for doing something I'm totally addicted to doing anyway!

I've never had a "block" problem but then there are so -many- sources of inspiration for the floral/nature inspired - type of beading that I do... I have so many patterns banked up that I want to do, I'll be 100 years old before I finish everything I have made a pattern for!!

Thanks everyone, for your suggestions. Looking at some other beadwork kinda inspired me. A lady here at work made a bunch of cool stuff and it's VERY nice. In fact, I'm going to try to buy a set of salt and pepper shakers from her for $40. They're actually pretty big - 3-4" and very wide. And I know I'll NEVER take the time to make anything like that.

I AM making Xmas presents. And you think with Christmas coming so fast, I could get motivated. Maybe I'm just worn out from putting in so much overtime at work.

Sometimes my neck and shoulders think 9-10 hours is way too long to be beading. I'm trying to get a bunch of inventory worked up for the Crawfish Festival in April and keep the gift shop that sells my work supplied. If you aren't busy the last weekend in April, come on up to Camden County for the festval. It's Fri. night and all day Sat.. Just head for Woodbine and believe me, you won't miss it. I bead with mostly with DyaMites and some of those bulk beads from FMG. They're ok for off loom stuff. And they help me keep costs down.

Well alas my streak ended fast. I ahd a big event I was working on for Saturday. I was going to bead before I got going but I did not. So 12 days thats not much. Starting again today.

yes we might come up for the Festival in April although I usually dont go to those often. We are thinking working on going to some powwows in the Spring but not sure what weekends.

Like Blackbear, I sew or bead. Since moving to Burque, I haven't done much of either. But finally am ready to start beading again. It took me forever to get all the hassels of moving to another state done. Now I finally have a sewing/craft room all to myself and stacks of projets waiting to be started.

When I do bead, I like to bead in the afternoon, then after dinner for a couple of hours. No more that 2-3 hours though, as my neck and shoulders get tired to. When sewing I like to get up early and sew before my eyes get tired. Everybody's got their own way.

I bead about 3-4 hours each night, but that's usually only Monday-Thursday. I tend to not bead on the weekends except for Sunday nights (unless I'm on the way back from a dance). Beading every night keeps the momentum going and the projects get done a lot faster, and I think taking Friday and Saturdays off gives me the needed break so I don't get burned out on it.
