Beading/sewing get togethers
Anyone interested, especially those that like me 'golden age' (only because we usually have more time during the day) in getting together to work on our crafts during the day or weekends?
I've been in Burque for about 6 months, now that I'm settled in I love to meet others who bead/sew. In Cali there were a few families who would buy in bulk and make regalia for our kids etc., every one helped each other and everyone's work came out better. Course I love to bead at night watching TV or rather it watching me, but it's still fun to get gather and work with others and of course after the work is put away.....we can eat eat eat. If you live in Burque, PM me and we can get together V

what a great idea!! If I ever get off this ever growing, getting more expensive east coast, I'll definately take you up on the idea. It used to be beautiful there. Is it still? I worry about yankees and condos ruining all the pretty places like the way they have paved over the florida of my childhood. I was in your area in the late 70's and loved it. Nature at it's most beautiful.

Life in Burque
Things are still good here, however investors (especially from Cali are buy houses). The West side is still affordable. ex I paid $1050 for a 1 bedrm apt in L.A., I bought here and my mortgage is less than my rent was in L.A. They are building up downtown with lofts and more trendy shops. Verizon just built a new Call Center and hired like 100+ people, Lions Gate studio is building here and house are going up all over the SW, mostly because USA Today, Fortune and the Wall Street Journal all did articles on the City. The state is offering incentives to companies to relocate here because of our low taxes. So if you're thinking of coming back, now is the time to do so.
I doubt we'lll get as congested as L. A. or Vegas and Phoenix though, at least I hope not, that's why my whole family left Cali. V

Well I don't live near you but I hope you do find some ppl. My friends & I do exactly what your talking about. (and we're in our 30's) Plus it means those who are less expierenced have help with what they don't know how to do, & learn in the process. The result is being able to do more for our chldren's regalias, ours too but we tend to do more for our children cause it's just more fun making stuff your babies eh?

When I was in Dallas, there was a cherokee woman that taught beading. But basically it was a beading get together. It was fun. I was the youngest one there but I had a good time listening to them gossip. haha

I feel like I am living on a deserted island here in Northern Iowa, I would go to great lengths to meet up with other craftworkers in IA, MN, or WI, i'm close to all. Would also enjoy the chat, BlackBear, set it up and let me know when and I'll drop in....even if I have to reschedule my peticure appointment.

Yea, whatever happened to the bead chat idea? I haven't the slightest clue on how to get it going, but several folks have expressed a desire to join in. What does it take...modorators...administrators...volunteers... .the coast guard?
