Sioux Women's Mocs

Hello everyone! I am doing some research right now and need some help. I am looking for some examples of Sioux women's mocs. The objective is not to copy the designs but to research colors and characteristics. PM me if you would prefer. Thanks in advance!

What kind of Sioux mocs are you interested in?
Partly beaded ones?
Fully beaded ones?
or
the floral Santee style?
What time period?

Have you tried Googling for "sioux moccasins" or "Lakota moccasins"? There are several museum collections and private galleries online which have reservation-period examples you can look at.
Find as many as you can and study them. Look at colors, design placement, method and orientation of bead stitching, proportion, etc. From this, you can take design elements from several different pairs and use them to make your own without copying any one.

Yeah, try Google images or even ebay. There's usually some pics there and try spelling it moccasin or mocassin, cuz lots of people misspell it when posting. I always get mixed up on the spelling too.

Carrie Lyford's Quill and Beadwork of the Western Sioux has a discussion of moccasin design.

Thanks for the tips everyone!
Czechy: I have been trolling the online community for a while running through the museums, auction sites and so on but I notice the info is typically not gender specific. As for time period and style, since I know very little, I am looking for info on all of it. How things evolve...

wyo_rose: Good idea on the misspellings... I noticed that a lot of the online photo archives can get better results when you start to tweak the spelling of things.

OLChemist: Is that the first version of the book or the republished version? Are they the same?

Thanks again everyone! I hope to find some info/ help on construction techniques and the detail work so any suggestions and further help is appreciated!
