OK.... the obvious first question is whether this person IS Kiowa or otherwise has the right to wear Kiowa designs.
Assuming that's all on the up-and-up.... maybe contact KiowaKat and check out her website. Also, there are TONS of pics of Kiowa men and women in the galleries here that could give you ideas. Of course the oldy-but-a-goody classic Kiowa design is the oak leaf, half red, half blue, w/ yellow or white outlines. A lot of keen variations can be created from just that starting point. Seriously, contact KiowaKat and she might be able to help you out..... hahaha - you should tell your client (assuming he/she is Kiowa) that you're gonna come up with a keen design that has little pics of bote!

I've seen a lot of the Oak leaf designs, different variations, which almost all Kiowa use, so I guess these designs would be okay to use as long as you are Kiowa. I know of one older Kiowa lady who used a design she copied from when she looked at the collection at the Smithsonian, at that time she said she hoped no Kiowa would get on to her for doing that. (She's since passed on.) You have to be careful not to copy family designs also, unless they give you the design. I remember reading a thread about this guy that was given a pattern to use and then came to find out that there was a beaded set on Ebay with the same design. It's getting to a point where it's almost impossible to have a design that's uniquely yours because of all the copying going on nowadays.
