Where do you get your beadwork design? I was just wondering. Some of the designs I use are past down, some are given to me, some are made up and some come from other places, books internet.

Coloring books are awesome sources of inspiration for applique beadwork ideas (and there are online coloring books too !); for loom work I've found inspiration in some free online counted cross stitch and rug hooking patterns ....
I've used rubber stamps to mark my fabric (store bought and custom) for beading. Currently I'm "cheating" at quilting: using sheets of heart-embossed papertowel over the top fabric. I'm putting a bead in the stitching at every "dimple" in the paper - it's working up fast since I don't have to transfer the quilting pattern. I got one section done last night, dampened the paper with a mist from a spray bottle, and the paper came away - no muss, no fuss. No one ends up having -exactly- what I see in my mind as the finished item but it does cut down on the translation from mind to pattern if I can find something similar.... and it's even better when I can find something to convert to a shortcut pattern! ~b2w |
