Question Hanging beads from barette

My niece just finished her first barette and wants to hang strings of beads from the bottom of it. What is the best way to do this and what are the best materials? She has some bugles that she wants to use. She tried using the beading thread, going down through the bugles, through a bead, then back up through the bugles. However, they are pretty stiff and don't hang very pretty. Suggestions?

Thanks!

What I do..

What I do when putting dangles on is, I use beading thread "nymo" waxed good and string like you say making sure not to pull too tight but tight enough that they lay rite and look good at the top of the dangles meaning not to much space, if pulled to tight the dangles wont be relaxed enough to hang rite hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks. I suggested to her that it was too tight, but I just wanted to check and see if there were any other tricks that I could pass on to her.

If it's too stiff, use a thinner thread, like 0 or 00. And don't double your thread.
