where did your size 11 beads come from? I normally order mine from Crazy Crow and they work great with the first graph paper attachment I posted. Also, Hobby Lobby has size 11s in little tubes (relatively expensize though) that mix well with the ones from Crazy Crow.

You don't have to use what everybody else is using. It just depends on the look your trying to get. If you like them and they're the color you wanted, use em. I am not a beading expert. I've only been beading for about four years (off n on) but it's definitely a passion of mine. Truthfully, imho there's nothing wrong with using 11s. I have plenty. I wouldn't send back my beads....but then...... I've got a sickness.

Yes mamm, that is where I got my beads. I did not know if Crazy Crow was a good company to order from or not. I have had a lot of luck ordering from them! They have been great to me. Yes, that is why I printed off your graph paper. Maybe it is a matter of preference as to what size beads each person uses. Also do you think maybe it is easier to start out beading on smaller things like barrettes, rosettes, etc. in a larger size bead? What is your opinion? I am frustrated....

I am not sure my eyes will let me see those tiny 16's and 13's any more!

I made a beautiful amulet purse necklace in 1999 with real copper, gold and black onyx delica beads, with long crystal fringe hanging down from the bag.... and I said then that that would probably be the last one that I would EVER make...I still have it and am very proud of it. I am afraid to wear it as I know I will never be able to make another one! he he...Can you buy new eyes??

Hey you know what?? I must be sick too...You fall over boxes of hairpipe, leather, beads, abalone shells, etc., etc. etc. when you walk through my room!

I love Crazy Crow too! And I would definitely try working with 11s before you try 13s or 16s. I think it's a lot easier...and more satisfying because you'll see yourself making progress and covering more area a lot faster with larger beads! Good luck and keep smilin'!!!!!!!

I appreciate everyones, help and advice...now to take a deep breath and dive in there! LOL! Y'alls work is so beautiful...I would love to buy a kit from someone and NO you do not have to bead it first...as a matter of fact I would "prefer" to bead it myself.

Oh BTW I saw that foamie stuff y'all were talkin about to bead on in the ad from Michaels today! You bead on that??? What kind of needle goes through that stuff?? A regular beading needle?? Well shut my mouth! This is wild!

I'll give it a shot....you may hear me spittin and fummin all the way from TN! he he he.....

both the fun foam and the stiff felt are awesome for beading on because they are just stiff enough to hold on to without your beadwork flopping around and a needle passes through them like buttah!!!

Singing Otter: I use the 15 hex.. I dont' think there's really a difference in size between those and 14's... try holding the beadwork after it gets so big between your index and middle finger and it stresses your hand less.. it takes getting used to but it can be done. I used to make all kinds of brick stitch earrings and I have a 15 hex collection to die for LOL!
OH also, 9-3 cuts are long, and when you do something round, it's definitly gonna come out lopsided. They are more oval sized than round.

Whispering: Hey they sell beadwork kits all over net.. custom made ones too. Just type beading kits into your browser and search search search cause there are a ton out there!

I am going to draft my desgin first with the graft paper I downloaded, then.....oh me....get to it. Y'all have been such great help. Thank you again. I did not know they sell kits over the Internet. I would like to think that I could make one without a kit..... I am going to try doing one on my own, first. If I can't then I will purchase one. Then...I will know how it all goes "together". You guys are so sweet to help me. Thanks a million!

what kind of "kit" are you looking for? cuz I've got my graph paper modified into patterns for a whole set (hairties, choker w/drop, barrettes, earrings.).

If its only the patterns you're after I could post these also, but if its pattern with beads and thread and everything, then I say ordering a kit from the web or from Crazy Crow is your best bet.

Hey Black Bear,,,long time no hear, I am back to quill beads, there is a gal in Vancouver that is now dying quills like you wouldn't believe. She floors me with her dyes. She has bought all my quills and is now getting quite a name for her colors.
She takes porky quills and cuts them down to any size and uses them as beads, you name it and she is doing it. Her bracelts are selling for $125.00 and she can't even keep up with it.

By the way Bear, yo know those wll mount cabinets with plastic drawers for screws with 55 drawers? I now have 20 of them full of beads and zip lock bags with te excess. Thanks to creator and open eyes I also now have a big box of furs, I also got 5 action packers full of sweet feathers. I like the feathers of the Grey Owl the best so far,,,, supper fluffy!!!. I dried the face with the skull and that mounted will look kick azzz.

The old beads I work with are over a hundred and 50 years old. Some times called Italian 18/0, 20/0, 22/0, 24/0, 26/0, 28/0 being the smallest. You can drop one thru the eye of a 13/0 bead. When I get a chance I will post a picture of some of these beads.

A 16/0 needle will not go thru these.

I've seen these beads before but i don't believe i've ever seen a 28/0! If it can be dropped through the eye of a size 13 bead, how the heck do you see it and what do you string it on? Certainly horse hair would'nt go through something that small right?

Hi, Walela, no it is only the designs that I am looking for. Sorry, I have been out of town for almost 2 weeks and have been unable to post where I was. Yes, I am looking for a Lakota-type design. Geometric, type. Wow, if you have one of those that would be so cool. Thanks, girl!
