alot of folks have stressed in the past, baby crib padding..(flannelized rubber sheet) or layers of canvas. you might want to check the archives as well as this thread. I can't say I have made beaded leggings, I've done satin one's but not beaded.. sorry.

Crib sheeting is too sweaty!! Make your leggings first out of canvas, or any other material layered over canvas. Be sure you edge them with bias or turn under the edges and sew them down.

Then you can bead them a little or a lot.

Sweat:)

If you're going to completely cover it with beadwork, you can't tell what's underneath. Canvas with interfacing breathes and doesn't stretch out and get brittle when you sweat on it.

Guy's leggins are a different matter.

beaded leggings

I have bought/sold beaded leggings and most of them have been beaded on canvas and backed with some other material. It makes sense as the canvas breathes alot better than the baby crib material. My 2 cents.

i agree with you dmoccasin about the canvas breathes alot better, and it wouldn't lose it's shape as would the use of softer materials.

There is this stuff that I have beaded leggings on. It is like canvas, but one side is coated with something. (almost looks like paint) But that also makes it a little stiffer and keeps it from fraying!! A big plus when using canvas!!! I bought it at the fabric store and on the bolt it said "Artist's Canvas"

:)

LOL thats what they use to make paintings...you stretch it over the frame and staple it down. The painted side as you called it is Gesso. Gesso will probably crack and flake after awhile if it gets wet cause it's like a base paint.

Heres a way to do it

Well I would tell you first to plan your design out first then pick material you want to use then go to craft store and ask them for this white lining that they use to make things stiff trust me they will no what your talking about but any ways it works good to bead on an and i use it all the time you just put it under the materials and patterns that you will use pin it to the material and bead on top of material but make shure you have your leggings
cut out already first:Angel2
