Question Rhinestones with beadwork

How would you go about adding rhinestones into the beadwork?
I've seen it on different types of beadwork lately, everyone seems to be using them.

The kind that are sewn together are calling rhinestone banding. The most affordable are "plastic-backed rhinestone banding". The shiniest ones have an "AB" finish.

are you talking about the rhinestone trim? there is no fabric or plastic with it, just rhinestones with a metal connection between the stones?
I would wonder about using that stuff. Anyone heard of that?

I've worked with teh plastic backed ones.. er... they are in a plastic setting rather than metal. and I like them. If I am using them in a barrette I can glue them down as well as sew them down and on fabric, well i can sew them down. They are 10 bucks a yard compared to 17 for some of the metal ones.

I've been using alot of rhinestones lately for orders I've been doing - you can get Swarovski rhinestone banding from eJoyce.com for $8.45/yard for crystal rhinestones or $9.45/yard for AB (rainbow), and you can also choose different types of plastic settings (black, clear, white). These are VERY sparkly and are the nicest quality I have been able to find.

Here's the link:

http://www.ejoyce.com/pmain?cmd=e_su...bcode=00010002

Click on "rhinestones/bead trim" and then on "Swarovski trims" and then on item number OK101-01.

Plus, if you buy in 10-yard quantities, they will throw in an extra yard for free.

OMG! I love that sight too!! I can't quit looking at the single rhinestones. Even the sew-on ones look great.

Those colors are captivating.

Stupid Question..maybe

I have trim that is backed witht he metal. How do I add that to the edge of my beading without having to add more rows of beadwork to keep it from coming off?
Know what I mean?
Here is a pic that someone posted in the gallery...see how she has done the rhinestones on the edge to finish it, but dosen't have the edges beaded...that is what I want to learn how to do...
Any ideas??

What she probably did was to bead and tack down the rhinestones first, then trim it afterwards.

You'd just have to have it on something that won't unravel.

I use baby lap pad to bead on, so I know it doesn't come undone....I'm just having a hard time keeping the rhinestones on the edge...they get all turned sideways and I think it just looks horrible, but hers looks so nice...

I have tried glueing them down as well, but I think it just looks messy...maybe we are our own worst critics?
