Traditional values??

Traditions.... Webster defines it as an oral transmission of events, opinions, doctrines, pratices, etc. through succesive generations without written memorials; that which is handed down; ancient custom.

So what is meant when you speak of "traditional"? It seems to mean many different things. Some think of it as a dance catagory, others "the way of the ancient ones", etc. What really is our traditional way of life? I believe at its' center is prayer. "We should know that He is within all things: the trees, the grasses, the rivers, the mountains, and all four legged animals, and the winged peoples; and even more important, we should understand that He is above all these things and peoples. When we do understand all this deeply in our hearts, then we will fear, and love, and know the Great Spirit, and the we will act and live as He intends." These are not the words of some holy roller, these are the words of Black Elk, a traditionlist. Traditionally, prayer guided us through the day.... how often does it lead you through yours?
I am not trying to preach, maybe I am... but so much of the problems we encounter can't be conquered by ourselves, we need help. Who better to help us than the creator..... may the New Year find you getting back to a more traditional way of life.
