Susan Harjo is only one of the few journalists who writes more accurately about events past and present. After reading books she has written or articles she has written in newspapers I usually have alot on my plate to think about for many days. I can honestly say she can get you off your butt to go do things about injustice, helping your elders, and looking after your children with more intent to do a better job. I know many times I am left with lots of ideas that I can act on to help my people, and not wait on tribal leaders to do something. They will never help, they are only out for themselves and hardly give those old people walking on the side of the road a glance. I know this because I see it everyday. I hope to someday become a good writer; enough to submit articles of persuasion to get people off their butts to do things that can change rez lives. If not that , than at least to change one child's life for the better.
