Then I walk over to check it out and lo and behold it's these indian guys (and gal) with this cool video and I was completely blown away! It was War Party's One for All. I listened to the lyrics on that song and some of their other songs and I am just a big fan. It was so real and just hit a chord in me that it almost brought me to tears! As I was listening I was thinking, now this is what kind of "rap music" I wouldn't mind my kids hearing, something real and positive and that it was from natives, even better. I don't know all the underground stuff you guys are talking about but I really love War Party! They are cool.....

Right ON Gurl! I"m glad you have begun to see the complete distinction between commercial 'RAP/HIP HOP" and Real HIP-HOP.
There is much positivity in Hip-Hop, it's almost spoken word/slam poetry put to a killer beat/s usually with a DJ.

Hip-Hop is very positive and it has qualities all it's own. It just makes me plain feel good. It makes me happy, almost like NOFX does for me, although their a Punk band.

If you dig on Hip-Hop with positive messages, I highly recommend Jurassic 5 and Blood of Abraham. They rap very intelligently and poignantly. I recommend J5's Power In Numbers album and Quality Control. Quality Control is one of the best hip hop albums of all times, as far as I'm concerned. It's friggn seamless. There isn't a bad track on that album.

Blood of Abraham's Idollar Tree album is kick @$$ too.

and as a footnote, I highly recommend Digable Planets, their from the 90's and only put out two LP's, Blowout Comb and Reachin' (A New Refutation Of Time And Space). This trio of MC's featured a female MC named Ladybug Mecca. Just good smooth, jazzy stuff.

Gosh I just love hip hop music!

The group you mentioned sounds killer too. I'll have to check those cats out.

Peace,
OD
