I gotta say being a music junkie as I am I can deal with some hiphop, But it does drive me nuts when I hear the same beat or sample running through so many of the main stream.
when I hear a mix of a tune or some old school music elemment incorporated into the rap its good. when the rap is strong and feels real to what I can relate to it really says somthing I remember or have felt or thought thats cool.

Because I belong to that over forty group I don't listen to it alot
I do have three grown kids and I have claimed a tune or two into our collection from thiers.

the rap it self does somtimes remind me old the way back when old blues straight out of the delta country from the south.
Some of those old tunes had alot to say.
for me if the music part doesn't grab me first I miss what is being said. But thats just an opinion from and old mom
I gotta be grabbed by the beat or the tune first then I'm hooked and then the lyrics speak out right to the inside of me
