devils advocate

Well i know no one has posted on this thread in a bit but I thought I would.

Well as a hypothetical, it leaves out specifics and plenty of room to play devils advocate; which I'm going to do. For example, maybe the powwow committe was ok with her being pregnant...who knows.

The age of the Jr. head dancer...I've seen a few that may have been 18, 19, still young, but if she's done school & all, then different ppl will see it differently and if we really want to throw around the possibilities I know one young Woman who got pregnant on purpose in her late teens, because she had a medical issue that ment her womb was going to be removed in just a couple of years so everyone was thrilled that she got pregnant...VERY unique situation of course.

Then what about the teachings of the community?...maybe your dancing in a community where pregnant Woman dance, I've met some ppl who dance pregnant because they were taught to bring the baby into the circle from the time of conception...maybe that was this hypothetical persons teachings & so she didn't think to clear it with the committee, or she did & they didn't inform head staff.

Off The Hypothetical & Onto Reality:

As a mother of a 10 yr old, & as an Aunt, I would be raising my eyebrow, seeing a head JR dancing pregnant due to the setting an example issue.

As a childbirth Educator, Doula & Lactation Consultant, I do want to clear one thing up...
Wocus Woman, mentioned fears of liability due to the Woman possibly going into labour because she was dancing. I have heard this before. Dancing of anykind (except maybe breakdancing) is a perfectly safe exersize for a pregnant Woman, & is a healthy form of exersize. Woman who exersize (including dance) through out thier pregnancy (except high risk pregnancy, which would mean bed rest so not relevant) is healthy, leads to a fit Mother who will inturn handle labour better. If dancing led to delivery Woman everywhere would be doing jumping jacks the day after thier due dates...lol
