Tribal Crossroads Pow Wow
For a first time pow wow it was very special. Samuel Tom Holiday, Navajo Code Talker, was the honored elder. There were evening campfires with story telling, drumming and flute playing, two spirited trading blankets, a Sunday morning Cherokee wedding. The honors ceremony on Saturday was over flown by three Black Hawk Helicopters, and an eagle flying in a clockwise circle above them. Elders commented that it was one of the most spiritual pow wows they had ever attended.
The dance circle was too small for the large number of dancers who attended, but the covered arena and the great weather made it a good experience. There was a Saturday evening musical concert by Dave Trezak.
There is always room for some improvement, but this pow wow is on the right path.
Right at 6500 public came thru the gate over the three day event and the vendors most all reported a successful weekend. There were two Amish vendors, very different but very welcome.
