Some of the worst massacres of native people by U.S.
troops in the second half of the 19th century:
Ash hollow, 1855. 86 Lakota Killed
Rush Spring 1858. 56 Numunu (Comanche) killed.
Bear River 1863. 278 Shoshone killed. Worst massacre in
the second half of the 19th century.
Whitestone Hill 1863. At least 150 Lakota killed.
Sand Creek 1864. At least 137 Cheyenne killed.
Wa****a 1868. At least 103 (111 according to Gache)
Cheyenne killed--all of them survivors of the earlier
attack at Sand Creek.
Marias River 1870. 173 Blackfeet killed.
Sappa Creek 1875. 27 Cheyenne killed--some burned alive.
Wounded Knee, 1890. At least 153 Lakota killed.
All of these deserve reparations.
