Hello,
My name is Yvey Perez, Taino tribe. I am doing research for the Native American Committee for the Indianapolis location of our agency Defense Finance and Accounting Service. I have been trying to research the new exhibit called “Voices: Native American Women in the U.S. Armed Forces” I know it featured six main woman that it profiled. I believe woman are:
1) SPC Lori Piestewa, Hopi, U.S. Army. of the Iraqi conflict. First known native american woman to die in combat defending the U.S.
2) LTC Brenda Finnicum, U.S. Army, a Lumbee, served in the Army Nurse Corps 1978 - 2000
3) PFC Minnie Spotted Wolf, Blackfoot, U.S Marine Corps Women’s Reserve 1943 - 1945
4) SrA Iva Good Voice Flute, U.S. Air Force, currently still serving.
5) BrigGen LaRita Aragon, Cherokee and Choctaw, Air National Guard, first native woman to achieve the rank of general and is currently still serving.
6)?????
Who is the sixth woman? I can't find her name listed anywhere on the internet. If my list is incomplete, erroneous or needs revising in any way, please, correct me. In addition, I tried to put why I thought the woman was chosen especially to be honored. Some I don't have the information yet. If you can fill in what I am missing?? Any assistance you can give would be extremely helpful.
