Yeah I felt the acting was a little painful. Seems like Adam was fighting his own character (but hey, every artist has his or her "rent" jobs. Gotta pay the rent, so you play the part).
The implications on race and culture were no where near subtle. The message was "Texas will be paradise once she is rid of Mexicans and Indians." Well, I guess it's paradise lost, because we're still here!
Oh and if another white woman was "ruined" I was going to puke. "Don't touch me Hoss, I's ruined." "Don't look at me Slim, I's ruined." And then, when Long Bill hung himself, that just took the cake for me.
Wes Studie was a hoot though. I loved when he gave Adam the permission to kill old dude and then came back with, "why are you still here?"
