Amber Cleveland – Dancer Profile

Posted By Charlie Ballard March 30th, 2017 Blog

I had a really tough time looking for Womens Fancy dancer – Amber Cleveland (Ho Chunk & Ocean Man First Nations) at the Denver March Powwow 2017, I must've walked around the lower, the middle and the outside concourse at least 4 times hoping to run into her. Then, one of the #DMPW committee members told me to stop looking for her, find a spot somewhere and let her walk by.  And wouldn't you know that totally worked because I was hanging out at the announcers stand and when I looked to my left, there she was.

I have to admit, I was a little star struck when I met Amber.  While researching the many powwow dancers in Indian Country to write about it, I came across quite a few youtube video's where Amber was in a dance off with other Women Fancy dancers.

Watching her dance up close is exactly how she looks on screen, shes fast, her moves are disciplined and if you blink, you might miss her.

Look for Amber on powwow dance floor, the lightning fast orange bullet.
